I went to Montgomery, Alabama to visit Ashley's dad for Thanksgiving. My girlfriend humored me and went to Planet Games, and a number of mall-based game stores. I didn't really pick anything up, due to some serious financial issues I'm having with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.

I sometimes lament the lack of quality game related clothing and merchandise. There aren't many good options for good geeky t-shirts. Gameskins makes a nice attempt, but I'd rather see pixelated hearts over vector drawn hearts. None of the designs are licensed, which means things are always just a bit off. Their most successful design is probably the Controller Tee, because it actually shows some creativity and (rare for Gameskins) subtlety.

On the other hand, you have John Freeborn, who, while not focused exclusively on gaming themed designs, puts out some high quality t-shirts (and skateboards). You can buy through John's store or the fourxfour/222 gallery site. I recently purchased the "Oolong" shirt from John, and while the shipping has been slow at best, the customer service has been spot on. No one seems to have "Scorpion" in my size, but it seems that John will sometimes reprint.

I also purchased something very, very geeky from Hot Topic. This sweet NES belt buckle.

The other gaming merchandise at Hot Topic ranges from excellent to average to bizarre.

Welcome, Geeks

Finally, someone has decided to keep a Web log. It's a bold new era, where trivial thoughts, observations, and the occasional tribute to a game no one else really cares about, will be published to the World Wide Web. Millions of visitors, thirsty for content, will drink from the flowing abundance of knowledge and wit that GoS will surely provide.

What will be on the site? Not much. Reviews, the occasional article, links to gaming related news media, the usual trite bullshit no one cares about.

So what's new? I bought Manhunt and Fire Emblem this week. And, within the last few hours I won a bet regarding the Disney movie "The Emperor's New Groove". The wager? A copy of Gradius.
